EcoVilla
The One Planet Foundation has been busy with the development of the EcoVilla concept since 2007. This form of sustainable housing is suitable everywhere – the city, residential quarters, rural areas, floating platforms – because the design is adapted to the local environment, which is unique to each EcoVilla. The aim of an EcoVilla is to create a modern, attractive home and environment where a reduction of 60-80% of CO² is possible compared to a regular house. To achieve this, building materials of sustainable quality are used throughout. This embraces a necessary change of conduct as well as an application of the most modern technologies for decentralised energy generation, water management and waste processing treatment.
Concept for the future
An average EcoVilla is occupied by circa 40 people of all ages. Although each has his/her own private home specific facilities are collectively shared, like the garage, the laundry, the work-place or the energy generating installations. An EcoVilla could be erected in an urban as well as a rural environment and is an innovative, integrated, future- oriented concept. Various communities have already expressed interest in the building of EcoVillas.
